Advice
Films
and Bromides
- Check
all pics are showing OK in picture usage.
- Do
not usehairline rules, minimum should be .25pt.
- Create
three folders for your work; documents, pictures, fonts.
- Use
CMYK images not RGB or Indexed Colour for print work.
- Avoid
PICT files.
- Maximum
film & bromide sizes; 395 x 558, 652 x 558, 305 by any length.
- Use
Type-one fonts (from a good library if possible,) in preference
over Truetype.
- Check
that spot colours are consistently named.
- Check
white type on any background is on knockout in trap
information.
- Remember
to create paths for any image that has no background and is brought
into a Quark picture box which is coloured none.
- Avoid
font problems in your EPS files (Illustrator, Freehand) by converting
text to paths/outlines.
- ALWAYS
run out composite and separated postscript proofs before sending
the job to us to output film this is the most important
but most ignored advice. It will show you whether your job separates
properly and will show us exactly what output you expect.
